She sailed to Europe in January, the solace of travel abroad meant to clear her mind of the tragic farce she'd been part of at home. But innovations in communications meant that distance no longer protected the rich: she had barely debarked when she heard that a colleague of her father's, the architect Stanford White had been killed in a lover's triangle. These teasers come from Emily Post: Daughter of the Gilded Age, Mistress of American Manners. They are from the Uncorrected Proof and may vary from the final, published version.

hmmm...I wonder what tragic farce she is referring to?
Like Jo-Jo, I too wonder ...
Here is mine
Interesting teaser. I wonder about the lover's triangle.
Very intriguing teaser! I look forward to your review of this book, as I've heard mixed opinions.
I just stumbled on your blog. I bookmarked it, I hope you don't mind. Love the teaser idea!!!
Hey - you should check out "The Architect of Desire: Beauty & Danger in the Stanford White Family" by Suzannah Lessard. It is a memoir of his great-granddaughter or great-great or something like that. I was shocked by your Teaser that Emily Post was associated by White - considering his secret lifestyle certainly would not have met Miss Manners' approval!
"the solace of travel abroad", great line.
I heard an interview with the author of this book on NPR. Sounds interesting.
